The so-called Me Generation volunteers 100 millions hours a year

Fact: 93 per cent of teens aged 13-19 have been involved in a charitable activity.

Tamara: “Although you can't change the world by yourself there's always a saying that you can make a difference in your corner of the world. And that's what it's all about - giving back.

Fact: 52 per cent of Ontario teens believe their generation cares more than their parent's generation.

Bronwyn: “Volunteering can really have a huge impact on your life and it exposes you to all these different feelings and ways of giving back and helping people that can be life changing and it's an amazing experience.”

Simon: “Get up and out, make a difference each day. There are no rules so just do it your way. Talking is good but actions could more so get off the couch and go run out the door.”

Fact: 42 percent of teens aged 13-15 support poverty related issues.

Laura: “I think the biggest difference that volunteering has made in my life was that fact that it put a face on the problems that we hear about in the world.”

Julie: “A lot of people think that what they do doesn't make a difference, but it does.”

Fact: 84 per cent of Canadian teens volunteer at least five hours a year to charitable causes compared to Canada's national average of 42 per cent.

Arnav: “The biggest goal I have is to start my own charity to help the people that I worked with in developing countries like India, along with the career that is a passion that I intent to pursue on the side.”
