Regardless of what anybody ever tells you to the contrary, you have so much to offer and we need you. Each and every one of you, and I'll give you just three examples. We have been looking so hard for so long now to find a cure for cancer.

One out of three Ontarians has now been diagnosed with cancer.

One out of four is dying of cancer.

It's pretty hard to find anybody anywhere who doesn't have a friend or member of the family who's been effected by cancer.

We've come a long way, but we're not there yet. So, we're counting on you to pick up where we leave off.

When it comes to our environment, my generation and a few before me have made a bit of a mess of things, and we've learned a lot about our mistakes.

We've acquired a lot of new information about what we need to do, but we seem to have a hard time globally getting started on this.

We'll do the best that we can but we're gonna have to count on you to pick up where we leave off, and the last point, so many generations have said that we're going to put war and violence and the ensuing suffering behind us.

We weren't going to do that again, but we keep doing it.

We have made some progress.

We have put in place some new forms of government and institutions to help us deal with these things, but we're not there yet, and families still today around this tiny planet that we share are effected by that violence and that suffering.

We're counting on you to pick up where we leave off.

You're single most powerful resource in all of this is your idealism.

It is this wonderful human capacity to see beyond the here and now to the what could be.

You need to help us imagine a better world, and then you need to work as hard as you can to help us build that better world, and given what your doing today, given your personal initiative, given your demonstration of your desire to help people in your community, people you don't even know, all of us in your generation have every reason to be optimistic about our future and the future of our world.

Thank you very, very much.
