Jeff Goldman, Principal, Durham Custom Homes: We believe that the construction of a better built, environmentally responsible, energy-efficient, accessible dwelling, is not just a corporate responsibility. But, also makes good business sense.
I'm going to finish then, by issuing a challenge to those of you present to support what you believe, is a positive direction in our industry.
Dennis Radovic, Homeowner: This builder was extremely flexible and allowed us to really move things around in the house to really make the house suit our needs. Those switches are going into the house and just putting them at six inches lower isn't a big deal. And lowering a threshold or a doorway isn't anything that costs anything.
Even though that's my counter, Melissa will be able to use it.

and is well known for being a builder of accessible homes in the area.
Victor Fiume, General Manager, Durham Custom Homes: We know the marketplace requires accessible homes, as we're aging and also to look after the population that has some form of disability. In 2025, I think a lot of builders will look at that and say, ‘well, better start doing something today to make it more comfortable for people with disabilities to buy our homes.' And at the end of it all - that's another thing - it's good business. Why would you exclude 14 per cent of your marketplace?
Dennis: It will be a whole new life in the house for me. This means totally different day-to-day living.
