Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, friends…

Again, thank you so much for being here this morning.

Thank you all for everything you do to contribute to the great quality of life we enjoy here in Ontario: the greatest province in the best country in the world.

Thank you for being so dedicated to your land, to your businesses, to your communities and to your families.

And on behalf of my family and all Ontario families — thank you for providing us with healthy, delicious, affordable food.

And welcome to this, our sixth summit on agri-food.

This year, the summit theme is all about translating consumer demand into market realities.

And I have to say, that's a theme that I find exciting, and very, very timely.

Because as we all know … and as we have all felt so deeply over the last few years …we live in a global economy.

The recession hit us hard.

People lost jobs … seniors lost savings … communities saw employers shut their doors.

That's why we've mapped out our "Open Ontario" Plan. Simply put, it's a plan to build a strong Ontario. It's a five-year plan to open the province to new investment, new ideas and new jobs.

Just last month I was in Listowel, to announce that Erie Meats will soon open a new meat processing plant where an old soup factory used to be.

And the company is looking for more opportunities to sell their product to consumers outside Ontario and outside Canada.

That's especially important right now.

I want to thank everyone here today for persevering in a career … a vocation … a calling…a way of life … that is often difficult, but always rewarding.

I know I speak for all Ontarians when I say you have our greatest respect and admiration.

Working together, I know we will continue to seize new opportunities that await us.

Let's set our sights on the horizon and let's keep moving forward.

Together, we can "Open Ontario" to the future.

We can create a better life in our small towns and big cities … in the countryside and suburbs … for our kids, and their kids.

We can ensure tomorrow's Ontario remains what it is today … the greatest province in the best country in the world.

Thank you very much.
