March Break in Ontario!

BOARD [March Break in Ontario!
March 15 - 19, 2009]

SUPER [Lee Oliver
Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington]

Lee Oliver: We're standing in the heart of Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches. Say that three times fast.

Every time the animals come out it's different and the kids are fascinated by it. They want to touch everything - they're fascinated - and they realize that these animals aren't threatening and scary.

We see a hundred kids pack around the live animal demos, and every time we bring the animals out.

SUPER [“Capybara” Kristen
“Animal Interpreter,” Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington]

“Capybara” Kristen: I'm biased towards the snake - any kind of snake - I've loved them my entire life.

This is the kind of experience that you really want to offer a kid if you want them to remember.

Child 1: It feels cool.

“Capybara” Kristen: It's hands-on - it's real. Definitely something that I would suggest on, say, March Break.

SUPER [Antonietta Mirabelli
Art Gallery of Ontario]

Antonietta Mirabelli: If people have some free time during March Break, come down to the Art Gallery of Ontario to see our blockbuster exhibition: King Tut.

We also have Off the Wall, which is a creative centre for kids and families.

SUPER [Patricia Gora
“Off the Wall” education officer]

Patricia Gora: We're at Off the Wall at the AGO and it's really just a place for families to come together and play.

For March Break we've extended our hours from 10 to 4 and we're going to be open Saturday to Sunday.

Mother 1: Oh, he loves it! We come out of school special for this so that he can have a little one-on-one time.

Patricia Gora: It's a great place to come, once you've come to the AGO, checked out the galleries, get inspired, and then come here and get a chance to play together.

SUPER [Julian Siggers
Vice President, ROM Programs]

Julian Siggers: The Bat Cave is one of the great favourites at the Royal Ontario Museum. We've just re-opened it. We have hundreds of different types of bats that are in here. And we built this new experience that's totally immersive so you can really feel what it's like to be in this cave.

Really, in every area of the building is alive with programming for March Break. It's a wonderful place to be over this week.

SUPER [Michael Chan
Minister of Tourism and Culture]

Michael Chan: Everywhere in Ontario, there's places for the kids to go. Get out of school, get out of the house, bring your parents, bring your grandparent and go to all these beautiful attractions.

Ontariotravel.net, and you get all these locations, all these wonderful places and enjoy it. March Break next week.
