TITLE - Mushers race in Near North's largest dog-sled competition - Kearney, Ontario

TITLE - Claude Aumont - musher

"My father and I have been actively racing dogs for well over 20 years. It's a way of life - so everything in our household functions around the sport of dog-racing. This is very convenient to be racing in Kearney, Ontario and have such a world-class event here."

TITLE - Jim Cunningham - Kearney Race Marshal

"Sled-dog sports here in Ontario have been growing on a regular basis. This is probably one of the biggest crowds I've seen here at Kearney over the years that I've been here. The dogs run all the way down through town, we have racers here from Minnesota, from Jamaica, so it's a very popular event in this area for mushers and skiiers to show up to."

TITLE - Walter Grohman - musher

"All the spectators, they bring lots of money in. There's lots of people here from out of town, they come up here and stay in the motel or bed & breakfast. Most of us are doing it just for the hobby - and the bragging rights! That's the best part of it."

Claude Aumont - musher

"You catch th bug - the first thing you do is you go and get a dog, then you get two dogs, and then you're buying dogfood by the skidloads, and that's just what happens. I'm often around motorsports, and yeah they're fun, and exhilerating and thrilling - but they don't offer the same emotional connection to my little family of dogs."

(Claude Aumont voiceover - to dogs)

"All right guys! Good boys!"
