Hello, I'm Laurel Broten, Ontario's Minister Responsible for Women's Issues.

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario. This month reminds us that ending violence against women is a widespread, serious social issue.
Ending violence against women is everyone's responsibility.
We cannot be bystanders when a woman we know - who could be a neighbour, a friend, a family member, or co-worker - is in an abusive or even life-threatening situation.

One of the best ways to help is to learn the signs that indicate when a woman is at risk of the most serious violence.

The risk is especially high, for instance, when a woman is leaving an abusive relationship, if the abuser has threatened to harm her, or if the abuser has access to weapons.
These are just some of the most alarming signs. When you see them, please reach out and get help.

If you are concerned for her safety, call the police.

Together, we can put an end to violence against women.
