Mary Frocklage:
We came back from a vacation and about three days later I had severe pain in my entire body. I didn't know what to do. I needed a Family Health Team because of my experiences for two years of illness. If I needed something and there wasn't a doctor available, I would have to go to emergency, where they didn't know me. Since I've come to Dr. Fuld's office, they've looked after all of that for me, right from the front desk right through to the nurse.
Mary Ellen Chambers:
The first time we saw Mary, she had five specialists looking at her, but she didn't have a doctor, a family doctor that was looking at the whole person. We have had a little team working here; our statistics are very rewarding, and our patients above all really understand their diseases. I believe that all Ontarians need to have good Family Health Teams where they're treated as individuals.
Minister Deb Matthews:
I am absolutely delighted to announce that we're expanding access to primary care across the province by increasing the number of Family Health Teams by nineteen.
It's really one-stop shopping for patients, where the health professionals work as a team. As our population ages, we're going to need to be more and more innovative in order to have that sustainable health-care system that we need.
Mary Frocklage:
I think this is very important because a lot of people don't have what I've been given, and they need it too.
