Ontario to host 2015 Pan American Games Video

BOARD [Ontario to host 2015 Pan American Games
Toronto, Ontario]

SUPER [Hon. George Smitherman
Minister of Energy and Infrastructure]

Hon. George Smitherman: From Guadalajara Mexico came the news, that we are the host of the 2015 Pan Am Games. The games will be a great catalyst for more infrastructure to be built. It's going to give us an opportunity to connect communities, to build on sports infrastructure, to encourage more kids to be physically active and I think that's going to allow more opportunity for people of all ages to participate in sports.

SUPER [Andrew Haley
Pan American Games Athlete]

Andrew Haley: Just the sheer enjoyment knowing that Toronto's a world-class city with a lot of world-class athletes. And Pan Am games are one of those games where it helps lead athletes to hopefully future Olympic success — and Paralympic success — and I think it's going to be great for Toronto.

SUPER [Joe Pantalone
Deputy Mayor, Toronto]

Joe Pantalone: We all know we have a great city of Toronto. We know that the difference is at value, so we're a model to the world — and we feel those sports — it means a lot. So it'll be 15,000 direct jobs created out of this. It's going to be an opportunity to show off our city — something like, 250,000 tourists are expected to come — so it's only good.
